Fatal Error when clicking the ActiveX button

Any help would be greatly appreciated. When I'm in form design in Access97 and I click on the ActiveX button on the tool bar I get this message.

The instruction at "0z308c7718" referenced memory at "0x098aff0". The memory could not be "read".

And then I click ok and access closes. This is the second time this has happened to me. The first time I had to unload and reload Access for it to work right again. So I figured I would see if anyone else has run into this and what they did to fix it.
