Hey guys,

At my Office, when people quit or are fired, we like to Forward their DN and keep the Voicemail active for a few weeks.
However, when you disconnect the physical phone from the desk, you get the "Not In Service" error.

So the understanding with my Dept. is that for every DN there must be a physical phone plugged in.
Right now we have high-turnover, and placing phones all around the office just to forward to another line is getting ridiculous.

I was hoping someone out-there had a better solution.
Most of the phones are M7310's, and we're using a Call-Pilot server to manage voicemail.

Thanks!

I can think of a few options - one is to make it a phantom number, if you have enough licenses available. Or, build it as as analog line on a vacant TN and let it go for a certain time and just delete it. I make myself a to do list in outlook to go back and clean up voicemail and phone numbers.

If you are using M7310, then you have either a BCM or Norstar. Try posting this question to the "Nortel:Business Communications Manager BCM" forum.

If you are using a BCM the answers in this forum might very well not apply.

In a CS1K I would normally use an ACDN to perform the forward setting a MAXP of 1 and the NCFW to the DN where I want the call to go. Don't forget to use load 95 to name the ACDN something obvious like the old USERNAME FWD so yo8u can more easily pick it out in the future when you want to clean up those old forwards.

When done this way the call will follow the MARP of the DN that it is NCFW to, and you can delete the old voice mail box and get back that license.
