I am using Crystal Reports 11 release 2 and I would like to import data from an excel spreadsheet to put into a report. How should I got about doing this?

In Crystal 10, the exact procuedure is:

1) On Database Expert, choose Create New Connection and then Access/Excel (DAO).

2) Choose 'Make New Connection'. You will get a box saying 'Database Name' and also 'Database Type'.

3) Set the type of file to Excel, using the options for 'Database Type'. Then use 'Database Name' to find the file.

It's best to have names for each column in the first row, Crystal should use those names.

I too want to use an Excel file (Excel XP)as a data source.
I have no problem connecting to the Excel file, but Crystal (2008) ignores the first column. I have the column names in the first row, but still no luck. Is there something special for that first column?

Thanks,
Bryan

joecowboy, this is a different issue, you should start a new thread. I won't be able to answer it, unfortunately, but someone else may know.

Best also to make your thread name more meaningful than just 'Excel'.
