How can I edit a spreadsheet created in Office 2003. I opened this spreadsheet in Office 2000, but I cannot edit it. It says that spreadsheet is password protected and is not. How can I go around this one. Does it has to do with macros???

I appreciate your help!!!

Hi,

"... It says that spreadsheet is password protected and is not"

How do you know that it is NOT protected?

Skip,

Don't take a [red]FIFTH[/red] on the [red]THIRD[/red]
Or you might not come [red]FORTH[/red] on the [red]FIFTH[/red]

You realize that there is WORKBOOK level protection and SHEET level protection.

What happens if you go into Tools > Protection....

What do you see?

I am able to open and edit this worksheet in Office 2003 without requesting for a password. When I opened this spreadsheet on another computer with Office 2000, I can open the spreadsheet but I cannot edit it. It is asking me for a password.

Thanks,

Are macros enabled and are any running in the Workbook Open Event?

I have no merged cells. Macro security is set to medium. How do I check if macros are running in the workbook open event???

Thank you,

Francisco

1. check to see if there is an code in the Workbook_Open event. (alt+F11 toggles to the VB Editor. In the Code Sheet do Edit > Find Workbook_Open Search in the Current Project

2. if there is, put a msgbox as the FIRST statement, save, close and reopen.
