Greetings,
I'm having issues with Excel 2007 opening a .csv file, 2003 is ok, but it seems to have issues with certain charcters. Are there know issues or fixes you can provide me?

Thanks,
Andy

That's not a lot of information to go on.

Do you know what the characters are? What kind of 'issues' are you having with them?

So far my guess would be that you are seeing non-printable characters in the cells showing up as little boxes.

John,

It is "certain" characters, as opposed to "uncertain" charcters.

I would think, but then that would involve some effort, that "uncertain" characters would be more of a problem than "certain" charcters.

But what do I know? ;-) Its Prince Spaghetti Day!!!

On second thought, shady characters passed thru my mind for a fleeting moment.

And then I remembered,

faq68-5827

thinking that, perhaps, these are characters that are being interpreted, on OPEN as DATES or SCIENTIFIC notation. If that's the case, use Data > Import... rather than opening the .csv, as you can specify data types for each column in the IMPORT Wizard.

You're asking too much, Skip. IS/IT Managers don't tell their secrets to everyone. He seems to have means to read between the lines -or the words, come to think of that. He only has difficulty to read the characters.

Good luck,
Engin
