I created a database that is being used by multiple users. Each user has an MDE file on their PC which is linked to the data tables in an MDB file which resides on a network shared drive. When someone is already using the program and a second user tries to launch the database they receive the following error message:

"There was an error executing the command."

In both the MDE and the MDB files I have set the Default Open Mode to "Shared" and the Default Record Locking mode to "Edited Record" and thought that would pretty much take care of it.

I don't understand why I'm receiving this error message if someone else is already in a shared database.

Many thanks to anyone who can shed some light on this.

make sure that your mde is not set to open exclusivly... is it is, it wont let any one else touch the back end when they are connected to it...

just my first thought...
