I have a Compaq Armada system that seem to have a virus. I scann (with Norton) and I get 0 viruses found.

The problem is when the system is booted the mouse works for like five minutes soon thereafter it starts to move all over the screen by it self.

I know that it must be a hardware problem or a virus problem. Reason being when in DOS mode the mouse/keyboard work fine but as soon as it is in the windows environment it goes bezerk.

Have anyone ever seen this problem. Help!

Do you have a wireless mouse then try changing the batteries, also those wireless mice are infared, so you have to have a line of site.

or if you have a wire mouse try changing the scrolling speed.

Let me know if any of this information helps.

Another thing to check is the desk surface. My optical mouse doesn't work on my desk due to the dark stain colour and the grain pattern. The mouse pointer tends to jiggle and jump around. My solution was to tape a white sheet of paper onto the desk and use it as a mouse pad for the optical mouse.

i had a problem like that and i got a new mouse and it worked fine..see if you can try another mouse

Oh Sorry man. I did do that prior to my previous message but I went a head and adjusted it anyway and it seem to go more erattic after that.

So I am about at my wits end with this one.

Sorry guys:

This is not a reqular p/s 2 mouse. The amarda is a laptop and I do not currently attach an external mouse. I am using that small mouse key that is located between the G,H&B keys. And yes, I am fully aware of the rough surface.

Also, when I attached an external mouse it freezes up the machine.

I am certain that it is a virus or a serious hardware problem. When I check the hardware configuration it says this device is working fine.

Drivers, drivers, drivers.

See if there are updates to your BIOS and motherboard drivers on the web for your machine.
