We got a site with an S8300/G450 with a 6 member trunk group of CENTREX lines. We had an issue not long ago with dropped calls. LEC says they found no issue, they left and it started working fine, go figure. Now, we are getting echo intermittently on a few calls every now and then. Any ideas? We had Avaya out and they found no problems.

You could measure the line current on each of these lines. Average line current should run at about 35 milliamps. High line current can cause echo. If you find any of these lines running hot, you can ask the LEC to correct or purchase external line current attenuators to pad affected lines down.

Are these all local calls that have the echo, or at least to one general area? Years ago I fought an echo problem for at least 6 months and finally discovered that calling from Vancouver, WA to one particular area down in New Mexico caused the echo. It was the LD provider's office down in NM that was causing the problem.
