I am sure this is in these forums somewhere...

I would like to read text froma word doc (about a paragraph) into a CR. I have found the OLE does not dynamically refresh so i think i need to treat the word doc a s a data source.

Can anyone tell me how best to achieve this? Preserving text format would be a bonus.

Am i asking over the odds?!!

oops.... CR10....(running under CE10)..

Since , data itself does not have a format unless you're reading in an RTF or HTML data source, that notion would prove tricky.

When you insert a Word document as an OLE object from an existing file, then one of the choices is LINK. If the report is reran, it will be reload the OLE object, give that a try.

Thanks Synapse..
I have tried OLE but cannot get it to dynamically update within CE (Where i am running the report).

How are you running the report in CE 10?

If you select View, it shoudl rerun the report. Does the server have access to the original file that you inserted? Did you select Link?

I am trying to run the report as a scheduled job. The CR has the OLE inserted with a LINK option as on.
But when each instance is created the report displays the original content (from the word doc) and does not update.

If it only a few lines, use my Text Lookup library.

If it is a larger file, use my cViewTEXT DB driver. It can even import RTF and HTML files, so you can format it inside the report.
