Hi,

I know that this maybe the most basic of questions but I'm having the most basic of problems. I want to copy a symbol but make it a seperate symbol so I can change it's colour, shape etc.. without it affecting the other symbol it's copied from.

I duplicated the original and created it as a new symbol but when I change the new symbols colour, the original symbol changes too..

What I'm trying to do is create a tween between the two symbols so that the morph and change colour when a button is clicked..

I did actually mange to convert the symbol into another one which I could edit but when I created the tween between the two symbols, the second one was replaced by the original, so the tween morphs from the original into.....the original..

What could be happening? I could just simply alter the tint int the tween but the symbol has a white border and when I tween the tint, the white border tints too..

Cheers,

To duplicate a symbol, open the Library (Windows > Library) and right-click on the symbol you wish to duplicate. Then select Duplicate Symbol...

Voila.

Now are you wanting one shape to change into another shape? That is called a shape tween. Tutorials are easy to find with a quick google.
