i am trying to have pots #'s sent to a def. sw. over a t1 line and want to end up in a hunt group for fax service.Qwest say that they can sent me the last 3 or 4 digits of the telephone number which wont help me to get the call to the hunt gp. i thought that a telco could insert a dnis digits i needed to make this work or am i all wet ? any ideas? sw is a g3is thx dennis42

Just setup the hunt group pointing to the ext of the faxes. Set the hunt group's EXT as the 3 or 4 digits that Qwest is going to send you.

the first digit of the 3 or 4 number string is already in use a feature codes in the sw. thx dennis

Can you set up the DID as a VDN and vector the ani to your hunt group?

In the future everything will work...

Is this a ISDN or CO trunk.

You can insert digits on the incoming trunk. Also delete digits if you need to.

ATT send my company 4 digits, and our dial plan is 5. We insert the extra digit in the trunk form.

I also use qwest, but the have always been able to send me as many digits as I wanted.

Are the numbers that you are wanting coming down DID's

g3rguy this coming in on did t1 so any digit insertion or deletion will affect the whole trunk group. i also thought that they could send what we needed. unless there is some term that i should use to get my point accross. thx dennis42

If you they are passing 4 or 5 digits now for your dids then they should be able to send them now. You may be on a switch that is currently sending only 3 and that is why they wont send you the 4th digit.

You can always have them change that, if that is the case.

YOu should always be able to assign any length of DNIS, and dictate to qwest what to send the number to.

Now I do have trunks that they send 4 and 5 digits down. On page 3 of the trunk form is incoming call handling treatment.

If i get a 4 digit number passed it adds a digit to it.

I have a pbx in costa rica that has a did range in my pbx in denver. My local dids are 5 digits passed by qwest. These go untouched. But if recieve just 4 digits, it adds a digit and passes it down a tie to costa rica.

forget that last paragraph. Just looked at my pbx and we created a separate trunk for the Costa rica and they send 4 digits and we insert 1, and for local inbound we collect 5. But you should still be able to tell qwest what you want as long as it is the same treatment as the other did numbers

dennis1942, I think you're looking for 'custom translations' for this specific number. The special term you're looking for will vary by operating company, so I don't have a more specific suggestion. Also, I'm not sure they'll be able to do it for one number, and leave the rest of the group alone. But it never hurts to ask. This is not an 'everyday' request, so you'll probably have to dig around at the carrier for someone who knows how to do it.

jgideon has it right. Just tell them you want them to do a translation and give them the digits you need.
They have the ability to do this, if they will cooperate might be another story.
I have a whole block of did numbers that didn't fit my dial plan and the clec did the translations for them. They also did translations for a bunch of existing numbers that I wanted routed in via a new T1.
