Hi,

I have a redhat 7.2 server with oracle 8i running on it.
I loaded oracle and oracle data on a single partition. Later I created symbolics links to the oracle data folder and moved it to a different folder (from /dev/sda2 to /dev/sdb1). Still my /dev/sda2 shows the same size as earlier.
/dev/sdb1 shows the increased size.
Any help about this will be appreciated.

Thanks
R

Are you sure you completely shut down Oracle and all of it's processes before the move? If any processes were left running and have these files open then the space will not be freed. My suggestion is to restart Oracle. If that fails then try a reboot.
