Have 2 computers, one running XP and the other win 98'. Have them both networked together using crossover cables. Most of the time it works fine, on more than several occasions though, a shared file or folder is not accesible, with the error msg saying path (of file) not found. Have to change the file to another folder on the shared directory to be able to share the file with other computer.
Any reason why the path would be there, then not be there...

Suggestions would be greatly appreciated...

kainoa123,

You shouldn't need to move files around to have it found on the network share again. It's more a matter of network path info being forgotten by one of the OS's. Resetting the path info shold fix the problem. Moving the file accomplishes the same result.

Win98 is somewhat of a lightweight in networking when compared to WinNT/XP/2K. I would suspect Win98 is the culprit. Here are some troubleshooting references and additional information.

Good luck.
