Is there any one who now how to change the dial plan from 4 to 5 digit without disturbing the user.

Thank you. MKD

If you only have extensions in the range you can add 5 digit extensions as well as 4 digit. Like this:

FIRST DIGIT TABLE
First Length
Digit - 1 - - 2 - - 3 - - 4 - - 5 -
1: extension extension
2: extension
3: extension

This would mean you can have 1xxx working alongside 1xxxx.
If you can clear a hundred extensions off the 1xxx range e.g. 17xx you can then assign 17xxx without any conflict. All that happens if you do have a conflict with the first 4 digits is that the Definity waits for the timeout after 4 digits to see if your dialling a 5 digit extensions.

Cheers, Ronster

To add a little bit Ronsters tip.
To add a larger dial plan number range you could add second digit dialing. To do this is a lot of work like Brandaris states, I would go one more and start on a Saturday. To setup second digit dailing, you have some planning to do.

First look at all the items that start with number 1 like 17xx 17xxx. All the items would need to be removed or moved to something other then a 1. This would be anything in vectors hunt groups any place where that extension is used.

Second under the FIRST DIGIT and right of the number 1 in your dial plan you would put MISC. This will allow you to have a second digit dialing under the number 1.

Third you would ADD SECOND DIGIT 1. A form almost like your dial plan will open. This is where you would determine the second digit.

TIP. do a test first on a digit that your not using (if you can) The boss an I did this not knowing about removing everything, talk about a long night and no it was not the weekend. Look!!! New Buttons
Same amount of time!

Thanks All Phoneman2

Keep in mind if you have a four digit and a five digit like the example in Ronsters message you will get complaints by the users. heres why,

if you dial extension 10000, the call will go thru to the extension no problem, but if you dial 1000, you will have to either end it with a pound or wait a few seconds for the definity to realize you have completed dialing. People will complain that there calls are not getting thru.

I would go with the second digit scenario. you more than likely have to rebuild the station dialplan to make this work right.

The best way is to use provision, its a tool that is available from Avaya if you are a Business partner.
Basically this tool will download all the switch info, you can then change the stations from 4 to 5 digits off line, remove all extns from the switch and then send into the switch your changes... have to be done out of hours
