I have a Dell PowerEdge 2500 Server running Win2000 Server SP4. I initially had 4 Hard Disks configured in a RAID 5 (Disk Striping with Parity) with one being a Hot Swap Spare. I now want to add 2 more drives 18GB each. I got the disks to add to the array, but it comes up as "unallocated disk space." I want to add this space to an already active partition, in other words, extend an existing partition. Does anyone know of a way I can do this without using a third party software like Partition Magic?

Not possible, unless your partition originally was dynamic before you even installed WK2. Converting to dynamic after the system is installed does not work.

Check the thread discussion about this...

Only real option is 3rd party software. I know this is a real drag, everyone into raid runs into this limitation.

Technome,
Thanks for the info. I figured it was something like that, so I redid my partitions this morning anyway. Thanks for the insight. I tried Partition Magic and that did'nt do it, so I decided to just blow the darn thing.
Thanks.
