Hi All
Essentially I defaulted an IPoffice500 V2
Reason being I bought it from a IT company for 30 euro and could not reset the password via the rs232 port on the rear it would not let me change the password as it said the system was under server control or something like that ( like a remote slave )
I defaulted it via the button the rear
It boots
I can access it
It is on release 8.1

But no licence

My questions are would the system sd card have to had a licence to be a remote shelf or was the licence on the server controlling it
Or by defaulting it did I delete the licence

There are 2 pri daughter boards and 2 vcm cards in
I just bought it for playing with as I had passed the Avaya Aips cert in 2015 but that seems like a long time ago now :)
I have a couple of Ip phones that I was thinking of putting one in the shed and 1 in the house for the wife to call me on

But after the default there is no essential licence so it wont let me connect the IP phones says no licence
I copied the SD card before defaulting

Do I remember correctly that version 7 did not need an essential licence
Could I downgrade to 7 ?
would I be able to use the IP phones then ?

Thanks
J

All licenses were on the main server except the PRI channel licenses.

The easiest way to play around with IP Office is to just run a Server Edition in Virtual Box in Demo mode.

Thanks for the reply
Had that set up before when I was working on Avaya after a year it expired
And I could not find a download of it last time I was looking so when I saw this one going for €30

I would imagine if I saw 2 digital handsets going cheap may be worth spending another few quid as there is a 8 port card in it too
Would digi phones need a licence in basic mode ?

Digital phones don't need licenses.

Thanks again
I thought as much :)
But while I was waiting I thought I would downgrade and see would the release 7 accept the IP phones without the need for a essential licence
So I did a downgrade of the sys from 8.1 to 7.0
The Ip phones connected no problem
So happy days
Only issue I see so far is that one of the vcm cards that was working ok is now dead
I have since upgraded the bins to release 9 ( not system ) and the card still has not come back
Next step will be to swap slots and see if its the card or the slot
As when I received the system that slot was unscrewed and the card was loose
Maybe they were having trouble with it before

So all in all i am happy enough that for €30 I have a working ( somewhat old system) to tinker with :)

If it is a VCM32 or VCM64 V2 then it needs R8.1 or higher to work.

The truth is just an excuse for lack of imagination.

An ip500 V2 runing as a standalone system would need at east an Essential eddition licence to mak it useable (I do not consider Muppe mode remotley useable!)
if this is for educational purposes then you will not learn much without a basic set of licences
Server eddition in demo mode is a much better option & will enable you to connect your 500V2 a an expansion server

Do things on the cheap & it will cost you dear

Thanks for the replies guys
@ Critchley
There are both vcm 64 and vcm64 v2 both with pri daughterboards after the downgrade one of them reports as dead the other seems to work
I assume it works as I get dial tone on an IP phone and can call the voicemail
I have another IP phone there but no power socket on it for a charger so I also assume I was using an power injector on the lan for that one
Will have to dig it out over the weekend and test

@ IPGuru
I did try to find a later release of server edition as the one I had was 9.1 and it expired after the year and even after reinstalling and trying to fake the date on the pc I could not get it to run as the trial was up
Did release 7 require a sip trunk licence ? was thinking of setting up a free sip trunk trial just to see does it work

In Rls 7 you don't need an Essential Edition licence.
But you do need IP Phones licences and SIP Trunk licenses.
You might get a 12 IP Phones virtual licence with the VCM 64 v1.

Thats exactly why your VCM64 V2 shows dead now after the downgrade it is only supported R8.1 and higher. When you went to R7 it will not recognize the card anymore. You still have a VCM64 V1 so calls will still work but that V2 is doing nothing for you at this point.

The truth is just an excuse for lack of imagination.

I bought it just for a bit of dossing about for €30 you cant go wrong

If anyone could kindly send me a link to the ipoffice anywhere that I can download it would be much appreciated to expand my messing about
