From Win98 I use a batch file to get into dBase IV:
BOATBAT.BAT
CD..
CD C:\DB\BOATINFO
dbase boatinfo

This takes me to the BOATINFO application

When I QUIT, I get a window "Finished Boatbat"
"End run dbaseIV"
"c:\db\boatinfo"

To get out of this, I have to hit the "X" in the right upper corner of the window.

How do I eliminate this and just go from "QUIT" back to Win98 desktop?

Aloha,

Mike Doyle

Try adding the command EXIT at the end of your .bat file. This should close the command interpreter window.

Hope this helps.

Thanks 1oldfoxman, but no dice.

I get C:\DB\BOATINFO>exit. Still must hit the "X" to return to Win98.

Aloha,

Mike Doyle

No. What 1oldfoxman ment was to put EXIT at the end of the batch file on a line by ITSELF like:

BOATBAT.BAT
CD C:\DB\BOATINFO
dbase boatinfo
[red]EXIT[/red]

and that should do it.

<BOATBAT.BAT
<CD C:\DB\BOATINFO
<dbase boatinfo
<EXIT

I did place "exit" on the last line, but still no dice.

You need to create a shortcut and make sure (under the program tab) that close on exit is selected. Christopher F. Neumann

That does it, thanks so much.
