DBA Certification Versus Developer Certification

Hello All,

Two questions.

First, I am interested in the marketability of someone with an Oracle Application Developer certification as opposed to the DBA certification. I enjoy programming much more than DB work but it seems as though there is much more demand for DBA's then developers in the Oracle world. Is this true?

Second, I'm looking for general guidance/information and Certification study guide suggestions for the Oracle Application Developer Exam. I've seen the Couchman book for DBA certification but have found no materials for the Developer Exam. I really know nothing about it so any info would be helpful.

Go to one of the job boards (monster.com, dice.com, etc) and you will be able to get some idea of the demand for Oracle developers in your area.

As for materials for the D2k OCP, the only one I'm aware of is the Oracle Press exam guide. It's rather pricey (but it has the word 'ORACLE' in it, so I guess that's a given!), but covers all of the exams. I haven't checked, but I don't think it covers 6i (yet).
