I recently purchased at a 'auction sale' a copy of microsoft foxpro. Can anyone tell me if there is a benefit of using foxpro as a backend for vb6 programs over using accesss?

FoxPro was originally the choice database before Access. I am led to believe that FoxPro was prefered due to its ability to handle large databases well, but now that is not an issue with Access, and if you want to over 2GB there is SQL Server 7.

If you are looking for a larger scale database...SQL Server is the way to go!!

But, if you are looking for something smaller, and you are deciding between Access and FoxPro. FoxPro gives you the INSERT, DELETE, and UPDATE triggers as well as Stored Procedures (that are stored in the DBC (Database Container))...

Both FoxPro and Access2000 can be upsized to SQL Server if you application grows...

Just some thoughts!
