I am only concerned about Internet Explorer functionality only. Previously, when the overflow property was set to auto, IE would have the element scroll vertically. Now since upgrading to WinXP SP2, IE scrolls the element horizontally. Is there any way to control the behavior?

Scratch this, appears to have been a bug in the previous version of IE. When I adjust the size parameters of the element to account for the width of the scroll bars, then the horizontal bars dissapear. In the previous versions with the same parameters I got just a vertical scroll bar.

You can choose (I believe) which scrollbars you would like to appear.
Im using these in a div tag....
overflow-y:auto;
overflow-x:auto;
