I need to calculate a count for grouped customer ids.

i can't see to get this to work?

I get a running total error message...

It would help if you told us how you designed the running total and what the error message was.

In any case, it sounds like a simple DistinctCount total should do the trick (no need for a running total).

distinct count does not work?

Do you mean that the count includes the supressed records? If so, you'd solve it using a running total, since it could use a formula that could match the suppression formula.

To get a running total, right click and choose Insert and Running Total. If you want to get the summary totals for a database field, choose Summary instead. Or else use the Field Explorer, the icon that is a grid-like box.

It helps to give your Crystal version, since newer versions have extra options, and some extra problems. I use Crystal 8.5.

Consider why you aren't conveying information is because your posts are a single sentence.

You'll rarely find one like that here, and note that every response is probing and larger than your posts.

Please provide:

Crystal version
Database/connectivity used
Example data
Expected output

If you get errors, post what the error is.

Give specifics and what you've tried, not that it doesn't work, it has an error, and I need a count of something somewhere in some version of Crystal, against some database.

And I can't find the any key referenced in the manual!!! ;)

Madawc Williams, thanks for the great reply. I understand now and got it to work.

Ignored Ido's questions, and managed to post nothing meaningful except that Madawcs guess was close enough...

Not very useful to others seeking similar help nor those extending themselves to help you.

Perhaps you'll take some time to help others here at least, there's always a derth of ASP knowledge hereabouts.

i am sorry synapse. I will follow you suggestions from now on. It will not happen again.

Word to that. We can always use someone with Crystal/ASP knowledge around here.

I sometimes feel guilty for limiting my skillset to VB6 vs. Crystal when people obviously need help w/Crystal vs. ASP, .Net, FoxPro, etc. But I just don't have the time to learn stuff that I don't use at this point...

... well, that and the fact that I can't stand the .Net IDE.

I really am truly sorry guys. I will follow your suggestions and not take shortcuts to posts in languages I don't really know...

Thanks again and I admire your work synapse...
