This may or may not be a hardware question. I would like to be able to copy VHS tapes to DVD. Does anyone know is this hardware or software realted, or both? Any suggestions will be much appreciated.
Thank you,
Jerry D.

check out for ideas. You basically need a video card with capture abilities first (to state the obvious). The, you need the right software to capture and convert it. You could fit up to 74 minutes of VCR-quality footage onto a single CDRW disk in VCD format and play it in your DVD player.

There are also other formats (SVCD, DIVX, ETC.), but you need to make sure your DVD player can read them. Almost all can read VCD and a select few can read SVCD. SVCD can hold more on one cd at a slightly better quality.

That website should have most of your answers...
