I'll admit, i was playing around with my device manager settings trying to get my SB card to work...when I rebooted, I received this message

File is missing or corrupt: C:\Winnt\System32\Drivers\Pci.sys

how can i copy the pci file from my XP cd to my computer? will this solve it? Please help..

Best way to try is to grab the file from another WinXP computer, I would think.

Boot from the XP CD and enter the Recovery Console by choosing the first R(epair) option presented or by hitting F10:
Use traditional DOS commands to go to c:\winnt\system32\Drivers

Rename pci.sys pci.old
Expand d:\pci.sy_ c:pci.sys
(where d: is the driver letter of your CD drive.)
(I am guessing here, it may just be PCI.SYS in which case you can just copy the file and not have to expand it)
exit
reboot
