Configuring My PIX

Hi , Thanks Everyone
This is my first post in this forum, And hopefully not my last. Im trying to coinfigure a CISCO PIX 501. I havent delt with CISCO routers, but have found out how to telnet in and get to the configuration screens. I am trying to change my I.P adress my Subnet mask my Defualt gatway and primary and secondary DNS servfer. Im sure its just a matter of a few comnmands, but I dont wanna screw anything up, Because I am switching ISP`s and if I dont switch over properly the first time, and cant get back, then im in trouble.

I generally use a combonation of GUI based PDM and telnet for pix configuration... Try these commands to get into pdm (pix device manager). If the device is right out of the box the ip is 192.168.1.1

http 192.168.1.0 inside

write mem

reload
enter for confirm.

When the pix boots back up, open internet explorer and use the address of

https://192.168.1.1

You may need to install/upgrade to the latest java which you can get here:

http://www.java.com/en/download/manual.jsp

Hmm Ok I have been having trouble getting into there, but I am now installing the newest java. Its Kind of ironic because the download is sooo slow because I dont have highspeed and I need the java to install hi speed :s

Also I will be able to configure that pretty easily? And is there anyway to backup my current settings?

commands to change IP information! several times i also managed to change ip address remotly. even dont need to be infront of pix


ip address outside ip address Subnet mask
route outside 0.0.0.0 0.0.0.0 GW

you even dont need to do
no ip address outside 67.77.42.64 255.255.255.0

try this!
