I have a customer that is having quality issues with their conference bridge. They are only hearing every other word. They don't have any issues when on a regular phone call. Any ideas?

What version of UCx Server platform (4 or 4.5) are you experiencing this problem pn?

The reason I ask is that each version implements the conference bridge differently!

I suspect that this system is a UCx 4.0 but I would like confirmation before offering any further advice. [smile]

Maybe you could also mention what type of phones you have (SIP phones, Nortel IP phone or Nortel digital), and if these phones are local (on the LAN) or remote (via Internet).

Also, have you updated the system recently?

They are Nortel I2004. I think it is version 3. I did find under conference, an option to mute the phone when no voice is detected. It seems to be better with that deactivated.

Unfortunately, Rls 3.0, as with Rls. 4.0, is using a conference bridge implementation that does not support Jitter buffers. Our Rls 4.5 and higher support the Jitter buffer during a conference bridge.

I honestly, don't have any work around that might be satisfactory for your customer other than upgrading to UCx4.5 or 5.0

You might try to enable the Jitter buffer on the Nortel Settings page if it is not already enabled. Depending on where the Jitter is being introduced, this may or may not help.
