I am running xp pro on and an AMD xp2100+ with asus A7V333 MB with 512 and 240GB and every 60 seconds the computer freezez for about 1-3 seconds and if any audio is playing it will go to a straight buzz during that time. Most of the time I may not notice it unless some kind of media is playing. What is the computer trying to do? Theonly thing I could think of is if Micorsofft auto updates or other virus programs are grabbing resources but why so consistantly every 60 sec? Am I missing a driver or what?

I would start by checking the running processes in Task Manager to see if there is something suspicious running. And also watch the CPU usage for å process that "takes" the entire CPU every 60 seconds.

Also, it might be a good idea to run Ad-aware and Spybot to se if they can find something. That is, if you have a internet connection.
