I have a similar problem as thread615-1249019.
I have three computers linked together on a HUB, but each time I turn on the machines, they can or can't see each other. They always can see themselves in Network Neighbourhood, but it's like a revolving one way mirror otherwise.
They all run Win98, and are on the same Workgroup with unique names. But access to each other is hit and miss and rarely can each see more than one of the other two machines.
What is going on.
Before you ask, it's Microsoft Network with automatic IP configuration; that is Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol (DHCP), with common workgroup name and unique computer names, all machines running Windows 98, two are P1's and one is a P3.
How do I resolve this problem?

This is a NetBios issue, has nothing to do with tcp/ip. Check MS KB188305 article for tips on troubleshooting that MS proprietary protocol.

Thankyou Lawnboy,

That is something I never knew about, and still don't.
However, I did pay attention to which computers were on first, and it seems that if my main computer, (fast Tower), is on when I start up the laptops, they always connect.
