Is a Word Add-In written in Office Developer compatible with Office 97 and Office 2K ?

Another question:

I will need an add-in for a custom menu in Word that will display in a dropdown the templates in a specified directory and I need to distribute this one in a setup file.

What do I need? I need Office developer or can I make this one in VBA behind Word?

Someone got any examples?
