Cognos Scheduler

I am running a lot of Impromptu reports using the scheduler. It runs fine all week until the backup kicks in on a Saturday evening. This cuts the scheduler's connection to the database, and I can only restart it manually.

Can anyone suggest a way around this?

Way too many variables here. Is it a database backup, a servers file system backup, or a local backup? What is the operating system of the machine Scheduler is on? Can you simply not run Scheduler on Saturday?
