Is it true that I need a special cluster license when I want to backup nodes in the cluster individually as any other client?

We run Sun Cluster and Legato Networker 6.1.1 on Solaris 8 and I get the error message
"RAP error Unable to grant Unix Cluster Client license Too many clients. Maximum is 0"

Yes that is true. We are backing up on HP Service Guard Clusters and we had to buy additional Cluster Client Licenses.
What comes in handy is, the index will be named like the cluster package, so there is no need think about on which node were the data backed up.
So if need be you could move the package from one cluster to another (assuming same OS) and the backup will be usable without doing redirected recoveries.
But be sure to read the documentation about cluster clients. We had our syslog full of messages just because we didn't get it set up right the first time.
