i recently installed win2003 server
but i don understand how my client computers can ping any site on the internet but when i use internet explorer all it gives me is page can not be displayed
i also dont understand why it seams as though AD (active directory) is missing
there isn't a snap-in for it and i cant acces it.
was it replaced or somthing with 2003?

we need more information to help.

1. do you have internal DNS?
2. Can you ping the DNS?
3. Go to AD users and computers find out which server is domain comtroller.

well the server has its own dns and dhcp service
and the two client computers use to use the dns server of the server but recently it stoped working
last night when i waas working on it though i tryed different dns's and it still didnt do anything
its messed up because i can ping ' and it will work but just the browser wont work

i can ping the server from both of my clients

since there is only one server it has to be the domain controller
however the only way that i can get into AD is through the 'component Services' snap in
and its weird because when i clicked on domain controllers and it showed SVER (the name of my server)i could not click to get information about sver it said
'The AD object could not be displayed unable to view attribute or value'
