Hello everybody,

I have built a GRE tunnel between two Cisco 877 routers. Now I would like send multicast over this tunnel. On the internet there are several "How to`s" but they all seem to use "ip pim" commands witch are not available in the Cisco 877. Can anybody point me in the right direction?

Many thanks...

I have an 877 and I can enable PIM on any interface. I have just created a Tunnel interface and PIM can be configured on that as well. I suspect you only have Advanced Security IOS and not Advanced IP Services?

Andy,

You are absolutely right the flash file that is loaded is "c870-advsecurityk9-mz.124-20.T5.bin". If I understand correctly I need Advanced IP Services to get it working? Is there anyway to upgrade it? Or do I need some kind of license? Excuse my questions I am new to Cisco products.

you might be able to find the IOS on torrent sites..
but for legit/ legal yeah you need a contract with CISCO ...

We must go always forward, not backward
always up, not down and always twirling twirling towards infinity.

What specifically do you need this for? It may be possible to do static multicast routing instead, although I'm not sure if your IOS would support that either. If you do "ip mroute ?" from global config mode, does it allow you to define a static multicast route?

@Quadratic

In global Config mode it is possible to set a static mroute, the command exists. I have build a two site configuration over a GRE tunnel. The multicast source is at one site the hosts are at the other site. The multicast addresses are 224.0.31.0 till 224.0.31.6 IGMP version1. What do I have to configure to get it working? I think I need to enable IGMP global end then on the interfaces it uses to get to the other site.
