When you use sum -r on a downloaded file you get two set of numbers. What is the meaning of each set? Why is ite that the 1st set does not usually match the checksum on the original but the 2nd one does?

man sum

Hope This Helps, PH.

if you read the man page it says it prints the checksum and the number of 512 byte blocks

And it also says that you can choose between 3 different checksums: old, 16 bits and 32 bits.

Hope This Helps, PH.
