How can I change the Alpha value of an MC programattically?...I have some text on a page also that when I click the button, I want the text to go away...but still be there to fade in when I need it again.

First, if you're going to continue to ask all these questions, you should register as a member, it's free!
You probably could use something like this in a loop:
setProperty ("text1", _alpha, "alpha%"
;
Or simply control, through targeting, your mc with tweening fade in & hold & fade out already built in.
Or even, if you have a neutral background, just add a tweening masking rectangle (of the same color as the background), covering (hiding your text) or uncovering it as you wish!
