I recently upgraded the Windows ME partition of a dual boot ME/XP system to IE 6.0 and only with CD-RW disks the burned data files are either not detected even by Nero Burning Rom or read as one audio track. I guess I could return to IE 5.50 however I would like to find out what's going on.I've upgraded the VIA bus driver the, the system bios, disabled the DMA, all to no avail. I heard there is a fix for this problem. If there are any ideas out the I would be most appreciative. With XP I never have been able to burn CD-RW disks probably because my Toshiba DVD-ROM is unsupported. This problem also exists with my Liteon cdrom.

If you have a Toshiba combo DVD-ROM/CD-RW drive, SD-R1002, it is supported in Windows XP Pro. You'll need to run Windows Update to download a fix, and possibly patch your Nero software (I use Roxio and had to patch it). This was exciting for me because it was not supported in Win2K, but now I can use it to burn CDs again.

As for your problem with the IE 6.0 upgrade, I have NO clue, that sounds like a very strange one.

Good luck
