I've inherited a 3.4 Solaris 8 single master/media installation and I'm looking into my options for an upgrade path.

It's probably best to stay on Solaris or Linux but I still need to investigate converting to a Microsoft based install.

I've been looking for information and came across the following thread but no details were posted: thread776-654595

Any help is much apreciated.

I would investigate starting up a new master/media server and slowly migrate the clients to it. I would keep the old master for restore purposes.

Just because the VERITAS documentation states a certain thing does not make it a fact and that is truth.

Does anyone know if I can use a 3.41 catalog/database on a NB6 install? I'd use the same master server name but just rebuild the box on better hardware and a newer version of NB.

I guess a better question might be what versions of Netbackup is the NB 3.41 db/images folder compatible with?

No, you first have to upgrade to 4.5 convert the database and then upgrade to 5 and then 6.
