Can't search pdfs with sql 2005

Hi All

Running SPS2003 SP1 coz SP2 breaks my site every time and SQL2005 no SP.

Followed kb 55209 and

http://www.sharepointblogs.com/mdlotter/

to the letter. My uploaded pdfs show up with the correct icon but don't search.

when I execute
select document_type, path from sys.fulltext_document_types

I still don't get pdf appearing in the file extensions for indexing. Is there any way to put it in manually?

Well half solved it.

Prob is I have a front end/back end config. When I installed the ifilter on the sql box, registerd the dll, issued the commands in the link above and rebooted - now have pdf searching from the portal site.

But it doesn't work at the site level. Anybody got any ideas?
