can't place text to PM

I have got a problem to take text with index mark fields, and place it into the PageMaker (program closes by itself). Is it possible that PageMaker can't recognize strange symbols or there are too many symbols in one field for PM. Text file is made using a Word. I have some experiences to make index by this way, but that program haven't acted so nasty before.

Couple of things could be happening here.
One...the symbols depending on the font use could be causing th problem. If it is a non-roman font this could be the problem.
Two----try selecting all the text in the word file and copy and paste into a new file. Could be corruption in the orginal word file.
Three---do not try to place a file from a zip or other drive. Make sure the word file in copied to the harddrive then try to place into Pagemaker.

Hello,
The cause of the problem you are having is mostly caused by corruption which the copy paste into a new word file would have cleared up. OR the import filter can not handle the information being brought into the program.
Let me know the following it that did not work.
Have you been able to place a text file with index marks before?
How big (pages and mg) the text file is?
Can you place the same file without the index marked fields?
Does the word file have styles applied to the text like bold, or tabs etc?
Are you on a mac or Pc?

Hi, I have placed text with index marks alot. There weren't any problem with marks. I think the problem is too many information in index marked fields. Some of them are really long. When I was pasting paragraph by paragraph I realized it is impossible with long index fields. I have to make layout in PM and greate index in a word file using pages brakes exactly where are they in PM. Such a life. I am working on a PC. Thank you again.
