We are running a FreeBSD VPN server at IP 192.168.0.5 on our LAN. Our Netopia router routes port 22 to this IP. When I VPN to our network from home, I can ping addresses like 192.168.0.1 (a win2k server), 192.168.0.8 (a linux box), 192.168.0.xxx (some random windows computer on our network).

However, I cannot ping 192.168.0.3 (another win2k server identical to 192.168.0.1), 192.168.0.5 (the FreeBSD server itself), or 192.168.0.7 (another win2k server that we use for terminal services).

Where should I begin my search?

Any help is greatly appreciated!

More information...

I also recently installed a few gig ethernet cards on the computers in question that cannot be pinged. I didn't think that it would be an issue but when I looked at the console a few days later, I found messages that the FreeBSD server had detected a change in the Mac address of some, but not all of the affected servers.

How do I explicitly tell the FreeBSD server which Mac addresses were affected. Is this even the problem? Is there some sort of static table of Mac addresses in a config file that I have to keep up to date?

Thanks for any help!
