I am working on a issue. for some reason PBX rolled back to configuration that was for 2001. All old TN's were assign to extensions. I have moved the TN's with the normal one's. Now user can attend calls and if not answered it goes to voice mail. But when they try to call any out bound number, they get busy tone(press 9 and 1-xxx-xxx-xxxx).All can call internally from one ext. to other.
where should i look to find problem ?

ld 90, are the NPA/NXX's,s in there? Are the RLI's in 86? Got Routes? How about LD 60? Got trunk T-1's trunk members?

WAoo, hold on. i am not an expert on Nortel PBX. So, please tell me what should i check in LD 90 or LD 86 /LD 60 ?

My system will do that when someone hits the "make all trunks busy" button on the attendant console. Took me a while to figure out what was happening. I'd look there first.

DO YOU GET THE BUSY TONE AFTER DIALLING 9 OR 1.
ARE YOU ALLOWED TO DIAL THE PREFIX(9 OR 1)?
IF YOU CAN NOT DIAL 1, THEN CHECK IF 1 IS USED ANYWHERE IN THE SYSTEM etc.

LD 60----TO SEE THE IDLE OR BUSY TRUNKS.
BY THE WAY WHAT KIND OF TRUNKS DO YOU HAVE?

LD 86-----ROUTE LIST INDEX, DIGIT MANIPULATION.

all the best.

hi all thanks for a your replies and suggestion. Let me define the problem again. Some days ago, we have a huge power surge and exchange was rolled back to old configurations. Means DN 371 was moved to TN 004 1 xx xx (TN supposed to be 012 0 xx xx). I have moved the TN's to required One's. Now we can receive calls and voice mail is also good. But when we try to call any number lik cell no. it gives busy tone. As for example if i want to call 248-961-0320, i have to dial 9 from set and then 1 and 2489610302, 10 seconds after dialing no. it gives busy tone.
current TN range in use:
020 0 04 xx
012 0 04 xx
012 0 12 xx

that is your way in/out, you going no where. With your limited knowledge base, it might be good idea to call local Telco, or vendor, T & M, whatever, to help get you back in action.

Your PRI has a link to somewhere. have you tried to know the state of your dch status from ld 96?

sharpjnj what do mean by "make all trunks busy" button on the attendant console ?

The M2250 Console has Trunk Group Busy keys. If you have that console phone, look at it and see if any buttons on the far far left are solid dark. If they are, press once and it will take that route off of busy.

At last got the issue solved. Had to make lots of call to AT&T and Quest and came to know we don't have circuit lines any more. They have been converted to normal POD line some time back (still have Hamel hunt group).

when system was rolled back to old configuration. It enabled all trunks (many have no live line and was disabled). Hunt is configure to seek from high to lower number.
Problem solved in 3 steps.
Get list of trunks. LD 21
Marked disconnected lines.
Disable all non functional trunks. LD 32

if any expert of BPX can define and document this simple issue, it may be helpful to support tech who don't have much experience for nortel PBX.

This issues is officially closed. Thanks for all support and help.

Now that you have figured out which trunks are not being used, TAKE THEM OUT. Then if your PBX reloads the trunks won't come up and cause you issues. When you take out the trunks, also remove the route data blocks that the trunks were members of, Take out the D-chanels and digital loops as well. If you don't know how to do all of this look at getting someone to do it for you.

It's a phone system, NOT a clock!
