Greetings All!

I have a small problem. I have an AT&T Definity G3siV6 switch that was installed back in 93' (Before my time with the company). Up until recently I was always able to access the switch using the dumb terminal located in the computer room. When I use the terminal I can access Audix with no problem but when I try to access the switch I only get a blank screen (I have hit the Enter to bring up the login prompt and nothing happens). I have checked and tested the cable between the terminal and switch but I have not found any problems there. When I use the "Status Logins" command I assume that MGR1 is the terminal because when I turn it off MGR1 does not show up. At least I can still connect through the INADS port or I would be in trouble. Does anyone have any suggestions as to how I can fix this problem?

Thanks and have a great day!

If you have a laptop and either ASA, Procomm, or even Hyperterminal, connect to the PBX through the AUX connector on the back of the A carrier using a serial cable. The AUX connector should be where the terminal is currently connected.

Cool, I will give that a try, but is there anyway I can fix the problem I have?

That was going to be my next question as well....

I took a look and it is a straight cable from the back of the switch to the terminal. I have also tried flipping the cables for Audix and the Switch on the back of the terminal but when I did that I could not access either Audix or the Switch.

I haven't had the opportunity yet I was planning on working on it this morning, however, I had a file server problem that required some time to resolve. I am going to try it later today. I just hope that I have the correct cable to connect the portable to the switch. It may require some digging :)

a regular serial cable will work, like you'd use to connect a modem to a PC, good luck

Cool, I will hopefully have time to test it out this afternoon. I am the only person in the office from now until after the Holidays so things tend to get busy.

I was able to use a Serial Cable to connect to the switch using the TERM port. It does not seem to have an AUX port but that is fine. At least there is not an issue with the switch itself. I am going to trying moving the terminal over closer to the switch and try a different cable. That way I will know for sure if the problem is with the terminal or cable. I will post another reply once I know for sure.
