Access database on a network
Every user is authorized to use this database

Except me.

When I try to open the database the following message occurs

This file cannot be opend in microsoft access bla bla bla....

When I a make a copy to my local drive it works fine but on a network drive it just wont open.

Any idea?

Best regards

Bob

Bob,

Not sure if you meant exactly what you said - if you are not authorised to use the database, then you shouldn't be accessing it, whether from the network or local drive. Doing so is a breach of data protection legislation and may also contravene other rules depending upon the content of the database (eg medical record confidentiality rules).

If what you should have said was "Everybody should be able to access the database, and everyone except me runs it off the network with no problems" I would check:
1) your rights on the server to the folder and other files in it - you need write access to it.
2) whether there are any quotas in place that apply to your username or groups you are a member of.
3) whether you can access any relevant workgroup information file and your access is set up as a member of it
etc.
