My problem is that I am suddenly not getting sound on my computer at all. Flash animations play, the video motion works, but there is no sound. Music clips in Media Player and Real Player "play" (the bar moves), but again, there is no sound.

All the appropriate blocks are checked under the Multimedia category in my control panel as far as I can tell. All cable conections are secure, the speaker lights are on, and the sound card is not defective.

Somehow I must have screwed up on some setting somehwere. There no longer is a volume icon on the tool bar at the bottom of the screen as there used to be. How do I get this to appear on my tool bar again and get my sound back??

This is SO frustrating, and I'm totally clueless at this point.

Any help in fixing this would be greatly appreciated!

Thank you,

This is nothing to do with Flash and you may get better response if you post this to Windows forum!

I'm not a Windows expert, but the first thing to check is go to Control Panel > Sounds and Audio Devices Properties, check the "Place volume icon in the taskbar" checkbox. (XP Pro)

Also, check the device manager (start - my computer (right click) - properties - hardware tab - device manager)

then go to sound, video & device whatever....
if you see a yellow exclamation mark - click on it & it will tell you if you have a sound prob...

if no yellow mark - then there is no device conflicts - & then i would recheck other options (cables, volume, connections, etc)
