I cannot access the Meridian via hyperterminal. I have rebuilt the terminal but I still cannot access the Meridian. I am using a Win98SE and hyperterminal with vt100 emulation. I get a blank screen and cannot type in anything. I was in the sytem and it froze and I had to do an AL-Control-delete to get out. I am new at this and do not know how to get back into the system. How do I accesss the Meridian?

make sure the port parameter are the same
usually they are data: 8, parity :none , Stop: 1

Make sure that the port in the PBX is Enabled
go to ld 37, stat tty

hope that will help you

Connecting to MMail you must use VT 220 / 320 or 420 not VT 100. Unfortunatly, Hyperterminal is not emulate VT 220...
Try Procomm Plus, Reflexion, or ... browse the web

... then when connected on MMail, press Ctrl R to refresh the screen

We use Smarterm - We use version 10, I think they've gone up a few since then but 10 does everything we need. Others probably have this too but one thing I like about Smarterm is the soft keyboard that emulates a VT terminal KB so you can use mmail's soft keys easily.

But now that I think about it, I'm not sure you all are talking about the same thing exactly that I am. I think you are talking about connecting your switch directly to PC via serial cable. My MMail is connected to a Lantronix terminal server which I connect to via a telnet connection set up for terminal emulation. Every PC in the company has smarterm installed so I can set up a connection to mmail from anywhere within seconds no matter where I am.

hyperterm is famous for this.. i use a loop back to my pc to test hyperterm. i use a null then loop pins 2 and 3.. that lets me type and see the results on the screen.. i can then insure that my comm port is working and i have the right one in my pc config.. when it froze it may have well locked out the tty.. if drol is set up right it will enable that port during midn.. is this a opt 11 or a larger switch?

I've never seen a disabled TTY port reenabled in the midn routine. When did that start? Always had to manually reenable. Agree Hyperterminal is problematic. Prefer ProcommPlus.

Hyer-term private edition (free down load) can give you VT 220 emulation to use with MM set up, if MM is set up VT 100 will work.
