Finally got my IP phone to work on our LAN, but I have a question. I have a separate VLAN set up for the phone traffic, and option 242 with the proper string in our DHCP server. That option string specifies our callserver (one of my clan boards), and our http server.

Once the phone boots up and is working, has dial tone, etc... I go into its menu and see that the callserver field contains the IP address of our 8510 server... not the clan board specified in the 242 option string!

How does that happen? Is it normal procedure AFTER registering with the clan for that field in the phone to change?

Just trying to understand the process.
Thanks in advance!

The address you put in the DHCP scope is not a register "to" address rather a register "via" address, so it can be normal to have a different IP address to the one specified in the scope depending on the CM administration.
