Hello, i have a partner mail release 1.8 system, and i have been getting complaints that calls have been going straight to our night greeting. we recently replaced the processor on the phone switch, and also lost one of the expansion cards, and i was wondering if that had anything to do with it acting differently, or if its something i can check to find out why its doing this. Thanks

Jabre

Your system possibly lost its programming. Is the time/date correct?
If not, then there is nothing programmed in #505. You will have to reprogram the entire system. Avaya.com has all the manuals.

When you say yopu replaced an expansion card.....did you replace it with an exact match? (206 swapped for 206?)

well, i replaced the processor, i didnt replace the expansion card. the new proc had enough additional lines to cover the loss of the expansion card, so its not being used anymore. the calls are happening at random from what i can tell, not at a particular time of day.

Obviously you changed to new/newer equipment. Did you reprogram the system? I would call a professional and have them set it up correctly, as the voicemail ports are not programmed or programmed incorrectly.

Hi, I have a partners plus system, I dont really know much about them. I have been on Avaya.com to try finding information out without being charged. Our power went out a week ago and now the fax machine is not receiving faxes, we can send but not receive. I think it has to do with the lines, and which line is dedicated to what. We have a dedicated line for the fax machine, when we send a fax though, it uses our main line. I have figured out a few things, like how to put certain phones on private, but also it seems when the fax machine did work right after the first power outage, the fax machine would pick up all the calls that rang in, if I didnt answer them promptly!! I have talked to avaya, the phone company, and the fax company and im getting the run around, any suggestions?

Strisht - it would be better to start a new thread, since your situation is so much different than the original poster of this one.

However, from your description, the FAX machine is an extension on your phone system, and the dedicated FAX number is one of the lines on the system. This allows you to use the FAX line for outgoing voice calls, and the FAX still receive incoming FAX calls.

You need to ID the phone lines, so you know which line is the FAX line. Then you need to find out which extension the FAX machine is. For the first, call your cell phone from each line and look at the caller ID. For the 2nd, pick up the handset on the FAX, then "flash" which should give you a stuttering dial tone. Then dial 10 to reach Ext. 10, and have the person there look and see which extension number it is BEFORE they answer the extension.

Finally, program the FAX extension to ring ONLY on the FAX line, and set the Automatic Line Select to pick the FAX line first, then any combination of your other lines for outbound calling.

ALL of the manual are available for FREE on Avaya's web site.
