I am trying to import data into Access from an Excel file. I continue to get "Numeric field overflow error 3349 - the data in a Btrieve file is too large to represent in your application."

I don't know what a Btrieve file is. I know if I open up the Excel file, resave it and close it, and then go back to Access to import, the file will import fine. But the next time I go to import, I get this same error again!

Any suggestions?

It is likely that the Excel file is not a native Excel file, but is linked to data in a Btrieve or Pervasive database engine. That Btrieve file and the engine are probably the native database behind whatever application created the data in the first place. Find out what application generated the data you are working with and then ask the person responsible for that application for some help. For instance, the data may be accounting data and the application that holds and generates all your accounting data may be ACCPAC, or RealWorld, or GreatPlains. You may have to hire a consultant to figure all this our if you don't have some IT people in your company. What area of the country are you located in and perhaps I could recommend someone with the right skill set to help out.
