Hi all, I am new in the topic of SAN storage.

I need attach a SAN to a two Sun server (solaris8 and solaris9) and I do not have the steps very clear to continuing.

Of my knowledge that i need create a LUN in my SAN. Then i need know the wwnn and wwpn of my HBA, in each server, to asociate the LUN to my HBA's, but i don´t know how obtaining them.

moreover i need know the type of my HBA (jni, emulex) but i don't know how to do. HBA was installed before i arrive at my work

After this i could seen the LUN's in my servers via cfgadm or luxadm commands. And after partitioning or put the LUN's under control of veritas volume manager or Solaris volume manager

My problem is how to do for connect SAN's LUNS and my servers.

I don't know if i forgot some step.

Please anyone can help me???

I know my question is very long answer..

Any comment will be very helpful

Thanks in advance and regards.

steps to follow:
install hba & driver on the solaris servers
connect the hba to your switch
create a zone for your solaris host by using wwn of your hba
assign your lun to the zone
modify sd.conf file with lun data
devfsadm or cfgadm to detect new lun OR reboot
format the new lun
