I feel like I'm being really dumb here, but I can't find a way to set the width of a field border, like you can in Excel. I have a number of conditions under which the border would appear or not, but my user wants it to be thinner than the default. I know I could draw a line and format it that way, but it is a six column report with top and bottom conditional borders, so positioning them would be a real pain. If I can work with the borders in the field properties it will be a lot easier. Any ideas, friends?
Thanks in advance!

You can only make the border of a field one of the following values:

- Single
- Double
- Dashed
- Dotted

You cannot change the weight of a border as you can with a line.

Whine!

Thanks for confirming what I had feared to be true. Now I can stop hunting and get going on what I must do!

One thing that might work for you is the box.

Insert menu, Box.
You could draw one of these around your field and then you have the ability to change the weight of the border.

I have never done one of those. Would I be able to make the right and left walls invisible? I also have conditional formulas to print single or double lines under the fields, depending on a type field. I'm going to give it a try, thanks!

Unfortunately, you can't format the sides differently, and there is no conditional formatting for the box either.

Guess I'm stuck with all those little lines then.
Thanks for trying!

You can also insert a line and set the width of the line. To get "conditional" double lines or single lines, you could insert additional sections, e.g., detail_b, detail_c, and then use formulas to conditionally suppress the sections the lines are in.
