Is Symantec Netbackup good on unix/linux backup ?
And is CA Arcserve good on Windows backup?
Because my previous company used 2 products to backup different OS.Any idea about this ?

I'd only used Netbackup with a Unix master server. If they really want to be able to scale up and grow with less problems that is...

That is exactly what my company does - Netbackup for unix and Arcserve for Windows. With the last two versions of Netbackup, Windows backups work quite well and could almost be called user friendly. Netbackup 7 has some pretty good features and will backup products better than Arcserve, but it is definitely more complex to set up and restore - IE: I find restoring Exchange 2007 far more difficult in Netbackup.

There is also cost to consider: I have a global license to draw on, but if you are paying retail for NB, it can be extremely expensive after you add options that are included in the Arcserve base product.

Personally, I like to use Arcserve on all Windows servers unless they have applications that only NB will touch - that's 4 servers out of 235 :)
